How long has BB Painting been in business?
Established in 2011, we have evolved from a father/son duo to a full crew of exterior and interior painters. Tim and his son are still on every job site! Always involved and ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
What kind of paint does BB Painting use?
BB Painting uses only professional quality paint from Sherwin Williams and Behr. We are happy to color match another brand’s paint colors so that your finishes are seamless. BB Painting always takes the time to find the right paint for the job.
Ok, I have decided to hire BB Painting for my painting project! What’s the next step?
Thank you! We are happy to help bring your vision to life! Tim or Melissa will discuss your goals for your project with you, take photos of the areas to be painted and make notes with all the details. We will create an estimate based on the discussion and supplies/labor needed to do a great job for you. After you approve, sign, and return the estimate, we will schedule your project.
Who will be there to answer my questions or to address any concerns I may have throughout the project?
Tim and Melissa will be available to answer most questions at any given time. If you have questions outside of our normal business hours, or at any time before or during the painting process, you may always email or text one of us.
Does BB Painting charge for estimates?
We never charge a fee to provide an estimate for your painting project.
How do you determine the amount you will charge for my painting project?
There are many things to consider when estimating a painting project: type and size of the painted area; type and number of windows, doors and other trim work areas; the amount of prep work needed for a quality, long-lasting paint job (which includes things like power washing, scraping, patching, taping and masking); the quality of paint used; and the number of man hours required to perform all of these tasks. All of these things need to be considered in order to provide you with an accurate cost estimate.
What hours do your crews work?
Our interior crew generally works Monday—Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. We will sometimes do work at other hours or days if needed, but these are our standard working hours. Exterior crews work from sun up to sun down week days.
Do I need to move everything from the rooms when paint contractors paint?
Please move all small items and breakables from the rooms that we are working in. You may choose to move the furniture 4 ft away from the walls yourself, or our team can assist with that for a small fee. We will need all rooms ready on the day we start.
*We will take down blinds/curtains on the day we start and remove outlet and switch covers.
Do you do wall repairs?
While we always include basic prep work like filling nail holes, larger wall repairs are an option. We classify repairs into three different tiers, here are their descriptions: “Great” condition is defined as when the room is like new, and needs no repairs prior to painting.
“Good” condition is defined as when one or more surfaces to be painted will need
additional preparation to be paint ready and when preparation requirements do not exceed the following:
- Patching in any number of nail holes (i.e. from hanging picture frames),
- repairing no more than 5 bolt holes (i.e. from mounting a TV, shelving, etc.), or smoothing out small, existing bumps “Needs Repairs” condition is defined as when one or more surfaces to be painted will need additional preparation to be paint ready. Rooms that are in need of repairs require custom pricing. Such repairs include:
- Repairing over 5 bolt holes (i.e. from mounting a TV, shelving, etc.)
- Caulking along baseboards or other moldings, including but not limited to crown
molding, door frames, wainscoting, and chair rails - Scraping uneven surfaces, peeling or chipping paint
- Repairing cracks in walls
- Stains or discoloration due to water or fire damage. We can provide custom
quotes for wall repairs such as skim coating or drywall repair beyond normal
wear and tear.
What if I only need one room painted, is that too small?
Why should I hire professional house painters? There are many reasons to hire professional house painters. Besides being more time efficient, hiring painting contractors ensures your project meets health codes, is properly prepped and cleaned up, and provides a professional finish. Rather than hassling with ladders, toxic fumes, and messy cleanup, hire our professional house painters to get the project done quickly and skillfully!
Will you start on time every day? Will you finish on time?
A motivated and well-run group of painters will arrive when they say they will, work a full day and then return each day until the job is complete. Those crews that don’t will take longer and disrupt your life more than they should.
Some painters overextend themselves and undertake too many jobs at once. Work progress slows or becomes intermittent as workers shuttle between jobs. This is a common problem avoided by painters whose business skills are as sharp as their painting skills. The weather is another factor in exterior job delays. With favorable weather, work moves right along. Unfavorable weather means everyone must be patient.
What is considered trim?
- Crown molding – The crown molding is an angled piece of trim that covers the corners of your walls and ceiling. This kind of trim requires mitered cuts in the corners and comes in many profiles.
- Baseboard – The baseboard trim piece bridges the gap between your wall and floor, and, depending on your home’s structure, its size may vary.
- Door casing – The door casing is the trim that creates a frame around the doorway and hides the framing pieces and shims that were used to install your door. These are the wood pieces facing a room.
- Window casing – Similar to the door casing, this trim frames the windows and hides any gaps that may surround them.
NOTE: Door slabs and door jambs are not included in trim. They will be priced separately.
